Wow…Sarah & i are setting our clocks forward 2 hours whilst travelling back to antiquity to see some of the places the apostle Paul visited on his epic journey through the book of Acts.We will get to visit Athens and Mars Hill, Ephesus and Crete. And while in Crete we get to visit the island of Spinalounga which is where Sarah has always wanted to visit. And the other 2 days we’ll get to visit Santorini and smuggler’s cove in Zante. What a fantastic itinary. We’ve booked our 5 shore excursions so are very excited and up for the challenge!

Unbelievably this is the Blind Sightseers 7th cruse…And i’ve only had a passport for nearly 5 years!

Elounda & Spinalonga, Crete
Spinalonga is one of Crete’s most famous spots and is often referred to locally as ‘the island of tears’. After a scenic cruise over from the port of Elounda, your guide will take you on a walk through this old Venetian fortress that was used as a leper colony until 1957. Many books have been written about this famous little island and you’ll learn all about its sad but hopeful history as you explore this infamous isle. After your return cruise to pretty Elounda, you can enjoy a little free time to explore the shops and there’s a blue flag beach nearby, so if you wish, take your swimwear and beach towel with you. You’ll also be treated to a traditional buffet of snacks from Crete including mini pies, meatballs and different salads. The perfect way to round off your day!
JUST SO YOU KNOW…There are some uneven and cobbled surfaces on the island of Spinalonga so the tour isn’t suitable for those with walking difficulties.
DURATION5hoursSUITABILITYModerate physical activity.

Taxi…..

No time to hit the snooze as it’s 2am so let the final packing stage commence. It’s a 1 week cruise so how much stuff do we need, lol? I think i’ll leave that one alone and get the cases into the Taxi.

Since only having my passport for 4 ½ years i’ve only ever flown from Gatwick North Terminal, but this time we are flying from Gatwick South terminal…How hard can it be??

The Airport…..

We’ve done Gatwick North 8 times now and are familiar with the escalator directly at the drop off point the takes us straight up to the check in desk…So when we got dropped off and told by the driver “it’s just up there on your Left” we thought this would be just as easy…Nope!.

I have no idea how Sarah managed to navigate through car parks, elevators, moving walkways and crossing roads…But we arrived at the check-in desk without having to cancel the holiday, lol! She is simply amazing!

After a not so nice coffee and a walk around all of the new shops at south terminal…The special assistance buzzer thingy that was hanging around my neck started flashing and buzzing “Yay, the buggy ride to the airplane”.

The Airplane…..

For another first…We were not travelling in a Tui plane but a Norwegian/Tui Boeing 737. We quickly found the service to be not a friendly or accommodating as Thomson/Tui and were glad that the plane landed at Corfu airport.

Marella Discovery…..
